Granular coconuts are crushed and used as an alternative for conventional coarse aggregate with partial replacement using M30 graded concrete.

This project is used to study the compressive strength and flexural characteristics of concrete and the general aim of this project is to use low costing materials as raw materials for construction purposes. Civil concrete based projects causes an imbalance in the ecological system by reducing the natural stone deposition as the aggregates such as gravel and granite are used to in civil concrete construction process. Many people in construction industries have identified lightweight aggregates (LWA) which can be used in the place of conventional aggregates thereby reducing the size of structural members.
Coconut Shells(CS) are uncommonly used in construction industries but they are dumped as agricultural wastes and they are of low costs as well as lightweight in nature. Studying the characteristics of coconut shells, it accounts for splitting tensile strength, bond strength, impact resistance can be compared and measured with the theoretical values of standards. As a result, coconut layer reinforced concrete are prepared for its low costs and strong building capacity and various experimental tests are carried out where the load carrying capacity of beam without coconut shell and with coconut shell are explained in detail.
